Spring Break Conference this week

The South-East Ohio Spring Break Conference is here again this Thursday. This is the one-time per year that you can get 7 tracks, 40 sessions, and lunch, for $35. You can't really beat that. I went there last year and coming back again... I really had a great time. I will be giving two sessions: Robust Ajax Architecture, and Design Patterns and Best Software Practices. There will be also sessions on ColdFusion, Flex, Flash, Apollo, and a key note by Ben Forta. If you're anywhere near OH, you oughta check it out.

CFUnited Express Atlanta 2007

I'll be speaking this Thursday at CFUnited Express Atlanta with well renowned speakers such as Charlie Arehart, Ben Forta, Hal Helms, Pau Bonfanti, and Andrew Powell. If you're in the neighborhood make sure to stop by and check it out. Hopefully I'll have some time to meet old friends such as JesterXL and Mike Britton ... See you all there.

cf.objective() 2007 sessions posted

CF.Objective() updated the sessions list, and let me tell you, it looks amazing! This will be the best high-level CF event of the year, so I hope to see you there.
I'll be speaking on Flex and Cairngorm Microarchitecture, a fresh new topic which should interest most CF developers.

MAX 2007

It's official, Ben posted the MAX 2007 dates and venues:

  • MAX North America: September 30-October 3, 2007, Chicago, IL
  • MAX Europe: October 2007, Barcelona, Spain
  • MAX Japan: November 2007, Japan
I've never made a Max and I really hope this is my lucky year.

Speaking at CFUnited Express - Atlanta

CFUnited express invited me to speak next month in Atlanta, next to Charlie Arehart, Ben Forta, Hal Helms, and Andrew Powell. It will be a one-day event that you can attend risk free if you're planning to attend the main CFUnited event, since the entire cover price will count towards your CFUnited ticket.

I will be speaking again on Ajax, Charlie on caching and performance, Ben on Apollo, and Hal on large-scale applications. I'm really exited about speaking and attending the other sessions. Hope to see a few familiar faces there.

CFUnited 2007 Topics Online

CFUnited has posted topics for 2007 and the list looks even better than last year. They'll post about 20 more in the next couple of months, including new topics for Flex and Scorpio.

As a reminder, the 'very early registration' ends January 5th, so if you know for sure you are going, register early and save.

I'm giving a session called Embrace Factories:
Object Oriented Programming is still fairly new for ColdFusion developers. The community is learning the advantages of using objects, but once programs scale, they get out of control. Learn the best practices to organize and wire your objects together using proven design patterns such as object factories, service locators, and inversion of control. Attendees will see the evolution starting from a 20-lines simple factory, moving towards light-wire, and ending with ColdSpring.

I may also do a pre-confernce class like last year, not yet confirmed... I could do another Ajax Intensive, this time leveraging jQuery, YUI, and the new Scorpio Ajax built-in integration... I could also do one on Apollo ... which one would you rather take?

Frameworks Conference is on!

The ColdFusion Frameworks conference is here. It combines beginner to advanced, the Frameworks Conference has it all. It's the best place to learn about Object Oriented Programming principles, Model-Glue, MachII, Reactor, Transfer, ColdSpring, everything you need to know. Imagine a smaller conference with a selection of only the best topics of CFUnited ...

Check out the topics and tell me it doesn't look attractive! I'll be covering Intro to Object Factories (beginner) and Model-Glue Actionpacks (Advanced). Hope to see you all there.

CFUNITED Videos Available

You can now purchase CFUnited's video package, which includes every session, showing the presenter and the slides simultaneously. The price for people who did not attend the conference is $649. For those who did attend the price is $200, nice discount! I think companies will have no problem at all purchasing this and share across the CF department.

South Florida CFUG Reminder

Quick reminder: I'll be speaking tomorrow at the South Florida CFUG. The session is on Model-Glue and Unity. I will start with defining design patterns, implicit invocation, MVC, and then go into detail about the MG implementation: data flow, event handlers, listeners, models, views, ... To cover Unity I would probably need several hours, so I don't think I will get into scaffolding, and ColdSpring in details (autowiring, proxies, aop) ...

I'll post my slides tomorrow.
