Google Code Search

Google has released Code Search, a new service, again, geared towards developers. They added a special search that only looks through source code. It would find anything inside JavaScript, HTML, License files, or other text based code. It would even look inside zip files. It's easier now to track down who's using your code :) , or find examples of code you're looking to use... really nice!

Lime Wire Sues RIAA for Antitrust Violations

This is hilarious!

In Arista v. Lime Wire, in Manhattan federal court, Lime Wire has filed its answer and interposed counterclaims against the RIAA for antitrust violations, consumer fraud, and other misconduct.

Google partnership with Quickbooks

Google has forged a partnership with Intuit, a maker of popular business and tax software, allowing the search engine to cozy up to a highly sought-after advertising sector: mom-and-pop businesses. [cnet]

This might turn out good! Everything that Google touches because really simple and user friendly ... I wonder what will be the outcome of this partnership.

change in captcha

I just modified my captcha to be a little simpler, thanks to Charlie for posting this suggestion. Captcha helped reduce spam, but it bothers even me when replying to comments... All I did was modifying the XML configuration to make is shorter and easier to read, which will still prevent automated posts but make it easier for humans.

blogcfc and isapi rewrite

I've been thinking about doing this for the longest time, but I finally got around to add some non-blog content to my site... I added a basic bio (copy/paste from linked-in), my agenda with this year's presentations (will add links and downloads soon), and a flex app with community jobs.

I like the idea of managing my content from the back-end, so I'm using the page editor from blogCFC, slightly modified to use the fckeditor instead of a plain textarea.

I also didn't like the page.cfm SES ... while it's better than straight up dynamic urls, I'd like them to be cleaner, so I'm using isapi rewrite. I would love to use it for all my links, but after a year of blogging over 500 pages indexed at google I'm not sure it's a good idea... thoughts? should I rewrite my urls and leave both working for a while? this will affect the age of my content ... any expert out there?

weird pages linking back

Has anyone seen this type of crap before? Every single day I find new sites with dummy content mentioning my name/blog linking back ... What could be the reason for this? Traffic, clickthroughs, ad-sense? Does anyone else have this problem?

e.g. these just came up last night

Google Analytics Open to Everyone

Google just removed the wait to receive a Google Analytics account. Now anyone with a website can instantly create one for free by simply by visiting google.com/analytics or by clicking on the "Analytics" tab within AdWords. After you create an account, they suggest reading the Installation Guide to get it set up quickly and correctly.

I've been using Google Analytics for a while and I like it a lot; the best part: it's free!

updated to blogcfc 5.1.004

I just updated my blog from v5.004 to 5.1.004. I was reading in the blogsphere that this update was a bit of a hassle, or did not go smoothly for some people. In my case, so far so good (knock on wood). I just upgraded 5 mins ago and thus far nothing's broken. I backed up my entire 5.004 folder and overwrote everything with the new version; then I modified some custom files I have, such as application, layout, admin entry pages (fckeditor), ping rpc .. that's it ...

If someone notice something broken please let me know.

Thanks again Ray, you rock!
